CELEBRATION OF COMPLIANCE DAY

Compliance Day was observed by India Inc. on 10th of October, 2014 to recognize and honor Ethics professionals, who excelled in exhibiting the culture of Compliance across the organizations. The individual and organizations that scored anything short on 10 on 10 on compliance were awarded.

The event was flagged off in Pune on Monday and in the last three days from October 7, ten members of Legasis team visited various locations across 10 states. These visits highlighted the importance of culture of compliance with poster campaigns, a presentation empowering the compliance executives and interactive sessions.

The workshops and deliberations were organized by Wells Dargo, Adani Group, Tata Steel, Sesa Goa, Tata Motors, NFCL and Volkswagen during the occasion. On 10th October, an interactive seminar was held in Mumbai on 'Criminalization of Indian Business' which was attended by compliance and ethics professionals.

The awards were given by Sajid Yacoob (Jaguar Land Rover India), Sachin Tendulkar (ex-cricketer) and other dignitaries. Excellent performers were Bishwa Rajan Dash from Tata Steel, Suprio Dasgupta from Schneider Electrical and Sandesh Mhatre from Glaxo Smithkline. Mahesh Joshi (Merk Ltd) for Compliance Champion Award and for Excellent performer Kavita Sethi Jain (TAL Manufacturing) have been awarded by the dignitary Sajid Yacoob – Vice President of Jaguar Land Rover India. The Godrej Group chairman was honored by the inaugural 'Compliance Crusader 2014' award; while the 'Ethical Business Group 2014' award was presented to the TATA Group. Compliance Ecosystem 2014 was conferred to Sandeep Kapoor from Sequoia Capital.

Compliance Day would be celebrated every year on 10th October as every organization needs to guarantee compliance with ‘all applicable laws’. A range of talent is represented at this function. All the winners’ were chosen by a selected section of industry experts which included- Mr. Shailesh Harabhakti, Mr. Sandeep Parekh and Mr.Shailesh Gandhi.

Distinguished panel members expressed and communicated their know-how’s on local government, regulators, governmental authorities and expert bodies such as CCI, SEBI and others who appeared to collect as much as fines as they could for wrongdoings in the business. On the same day ‘The Enchiridion’ handbook on compliance was revealed by the notable people. This is a book by industry professionals to help readers make cultural corporate and informed legal decisions. Current analysis regarding internal controls, overall conduct of the business and on corporate regulatory environment is contained in the handbook to create compliance program successful.

Knowledge Portal, developed by Legasis was inaugurated on the same day which is now easily accessible to all recorded Compliance and Ethics Professionals. Here they can share, practice and collaborate ideas for compliance managing. The Industry broad portal will include news/information, Library, discussion forum, Job postings etc.

With economy’s impetus taken as a whole on growth and development, behavior has become essential for Indian industry now to heart on Compliance and Governance. Legasis wishes to have an uncompromised compliance culture and wishes to offer to the Indian companies a competitive edge. Its main aim is to boost India’s status in worldwide integrity Index.
